Former DA Sumrow to be paroled from jail this week after serving 15 months of 15 year sentence


By J.J. Smith. Former Rockwall County District Attorney Ray Sumrow will be paroled from a state jail this week after serving only 15 months of his 15-year jail sentence.

He was convicted in March, 2008, and sentenced in June, 2008, to 15 years in jail for stealing government property.

No reason has yet been obtained why he is being released early.

Sumrow had served as Rockwall County’s district attorney for 22 years before resigning and being jailed.
