By J.J. Smith. A head-on collision yesterday morning on Highway 205 just north of Rockwall in Collin Co. killed three Nevada residents from one family and left three others injured, including a four-year-old girl.
Andrea Dunn, 42, and her parents, John Mcilvain, 76, and Margaret Mcilvain, 74, were killed when their white Honda Passport minivan traveling southbound on Hwy. 205 towards Rockwall was hit head-on by a white Hyundai SUV traveling north towards State Highway 78.
Dunn’s four-year-old daughter, Gabbe, who was strapped into her childseat, was the lone survivor in the Honda. She was taken to Children’s Medical Center Dallas with non-life-threatening injuries.
All three who died were wearing seat belts.
According to Texas Highway Patrol officers who on the scene and used to seeing automobile wrecks, what happened was “awful” and “horrific.”
They believe the Hyundai apparently hydroplaned across the center line into the Honda in the wet weather.
The drivers of the Hyundai, Tommie Chambers, 35, and Ariel Langford, 15, both of Wylie, were taken to Plano Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.Â
Both had broken bones but will be okay, officers said.
The impact of the crash was so severe that the Hyundai engine block was ripped from the car, laying in the road.
The highway was closed until about 3 p.m.
No charges were filed Friday and the crash is under investigation.
