20-year-old son of RISD school board member Doug Hamilton killed in traffic accident

The son of Rockwall ISD school board member Doug Hamilton was killed in a traffic accident involving a semi-trailer truck Thursday evening.

Alexander “Alex” Hamilton, 20, (pictured with his girlfriend Annette Martinez) died from a traffic incident on I-30 near Bass Rd. which backed up traffic for miles in both directions.

Alex was a 2007 graduate of Rockwall High School, where he also played football and was selected to the All-District second team for his efforts. He also attended and played football at the University of North Texas in Denton. He was a full-time student at Collin County Community College at the time of his death.

He is survived by his parents, Doug and Janet Hamilton of Rockwall; sisters Kristen Hamilton of Richardson and Lyndse Hamilton of Edmond, OK; girlfriend Annette Martinez of Rockwall; grandparents Marvin and Marilyn Alexander of Rockwall and Clyde and Freda Hamilton of Dallas; plus numerous aunts and uncles, including Dennis and Kathie Bailey of Heath, and his beloved dog “Dodge.”

His funeral has been scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2 pm, at Lake Pointe Church.

A visitation has been scheduled at Rest Haven Funeral Home’s Rockwall chapel, Monday, Nov. 9, from 6-8 pm.

No other details are known at this time about his death, but a report from Garland Police is expected by at least Monday morning, if not sooner.
