Defending 5A state champ Allen rolls over Rockwall, 38-10

ALLEN-Defending state 5A champion Allen showed off its powerful running game and solid defense rolling over Rockwall, 38-10, Friday night at Allen’s Eagle stadium.

Allen(2-1) rolled up 264 yards rushing on 42 attempts, led by a 106 yard effort by sophomore Jonathan Williams. He scored three of the Eagle’s five TDs on runs of 1, 22, and 3 yards.

The Eagles scored on three of four first-half possessions, and barely missed doing so on it’s very first possession but lost a fumble in the end zone.

Rockwall’s only touchdown came on a one-yard run by Josh Broach, after the Yellow Jackets (1-1) had driven 90 yards in 15 plays in the first half. Ted Gates converted the PAT.

Travis Shinn also kicked a 36-yard field goal in the fourth quarter for the Yellow Jackets.

Broach had 71 yards on 17 carries for the night for Rockwall. Running back Del Myles also rushed for 117 yards on just 12 carries but Allen’s defense made big stops when necessary.

Yellow Jacket quarterback Adam Dingwell completed 15 of 25 passes for 123 yards and no interceptions, plus rushed for 22 yards on eight carries.

Will Beasley caught six passes for 59 yards and Luke Wardell caught three for 43 yards.

Allen quarterback Matt Allen completed 11 of 13 passes for 220 yards and one TD. He also ran for a 56-yard score.

Allen amassed 498 yards total offense, while Rockwall gained 332 yards.

In other District 10-4A action, Highland Park was clobbered by Coppell, 41-20. Greenville won its third straight game, slaughtering Paris,71-21.
