The Rockwall Independent School District’s “Rachel’s Challenge” rally, originally scheduled for May 7, was rescheduled today to May 20, due to Swine flu concerns.

The second annual event has been rescheduled for Wednesday, May 20, at 7 pm, at Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall.

According to the announcement just issued by phone and email by RISD’s spokesperson Sheri Fowler, the decision was made after conferring with public health officials, and in alignment with the Center for Disease Control advice to avoid large crowds and practice social distancing,

All plans that were in place for the original date have been moved to the new date of May 20, she said.

“Re-scheduling Rachel’s Rally to May 20th will help to provide a safe and healthy atmosphere for our students, staff and community,” said Fowler.

“The health and well-being of our students is a top priority in Rockwall ISD and we continue to work with county health officials and to consult additional outside sources on a daily basis regarding H1N1 flu awareness.”

“We hope that all those who were planning on attending Rachel’s Rally on its original date will be able to attend the re-scheduled event on May 20.”
